NORTH ATLANTIC GAS STATION - CHRISTMAS DONATION

Once again this year the folks at North Atlantic put up a tree and people donated items for the SPCA Christmas Tree. This is a picture of the goodies that they collected and we have some very happy critters. They do love their treats! We'd like to send out a huge THANK YOU to Andy Ryan and all of his Alberta buddies for hosting a charity Dart Time with the proceeds coming to us. Having fun and doing something great the Darts for Doggies event raised $500.00!! Amazing! Thanks Guys!

The SPCA would like to extend a very sincere Thank You to Jonathon & Allison Moulton who were married on July 23 of this year. They asked guests to donate money to the SPCA in order to get the couple to kiss and raised $189.70 for the shelter! That's alot of kissing! Seven year old Laura Dober from Mooring Cove held a Yard Sale on July 17th and wanted all the proceeds to be donated to the SPCA. Laura raised an amazing $310.00 (way to go Laura!!) and is pictured above presenting her donation to Kelly, Stephanie, Lisa and Scamper and Bella from the shelter.

The Girl Guides of Grand Bank and Fortune stopped by with a donation, all part of earning their Pet Lovers Badge. Grade 4 Class from St. Joseph's Academy

The Grade 4 students from St. Joseph's Academy in Lamaline visited the shelter after reading the book Shiloh. They sold hot dogs and raised $144.00 for the shelter! Wow! We'd really like to say Thank You to the students and we hope that they had fun visiting the shelter. Dog Bite Prevention Week - Open House

We held an information session/open house as a part of our Dog Bite Prevention Week program. We held activities for the kids at the Burin Fire Hall. Below are a few pictures taken on that day.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Burin Volunteer Fire Department for lending us the Fire Hall, to SPARKY the Fire Dog for coming and helping to make the kids very happy. To the volunteers that helped us out that day, thank you so much for your time as always you were great. The Burin Peninsula SPCA would like to say a BIG thank you to everyone who came to the Open House, kids and adults, it was great to see you there and we're so pleased that you came by.

College of the North Atlantic - Burin Campus

The Jeans Day Commitee at the College of the North Atlantic donated a cheque for $150.00 and donated items of cat and dog food, treats, towels and a dog bed to the shelter. Pictured above are Glenda Keating, Stella Kennedy, Marie Fudge, Steve Cooze and shelter volunteer Lisa Grandy.

Thank You Marystown Post Office

The Marystown Canada Post Office put together a 'World's Finest' Gift Basket and put it on display. Anyone who donated to the Burin Peninsula SPCA could submit their name for a chance to win the basket. Pictured above are Canada Post employee Yvonne Power and SPCA volunteer Lisa Grandy. Yvonne presented Lisa with a cheque for $155.00 and a donation of food and treats.

Thank You Wal Mart

The Wal Mart Photo Lab participated with the Marystown Lions Club to host this years pet photo contest. The winner has been chosen (see our home page) and the good folks at Wal Mart presented a donation to the Burin Peninsula SPCA. Meet Kelly Baker a lovely young girl (pictured here with Buddy) who saved her recycleables and used the money to buy food and treats for the shelter. Kelly shows us just how great one person can be and Buddy really loved meeting her. Thank you Kelly and we hope you'll visit again soon!

Grade 7 Students of Sacred Heart Academy

Sacred Heart Academy recently celebrated 100 days of school. As a part of the celebrations the Grade 7 Students offered a challenge to bring 100 items for the SPCA. And they succeeded! Not only did they get the 100 items but they also donated a cheque for $125.00. WOW!! Thank you so much to all of the students of Sacred Heart and especially the Grade 7 Students for putting the challenge out there. Wonderful Job!

Mariners Athletic Club of Marystown

The Mariners Athletic Club of Marystown hosts a Boxing Day 4K Fun Run every year and donate the proceeds to charity.

This year they were kind enough to think of the SPCA and in the above picture Lyman Keeping, Vice-President of the Mariners Athletic Club, presents a cheque for $243.00 to shelter employee Kelly Baker-Joyce.

We wish to extend our gratitude to the members of the Mariners Athletic Club for their generousity. Keep up the great work!

Thank You Maggie...

Maggie Power, a wonderful 16 year old with a generous heart, gave a donation of dog food, cat food and litter. From all of babies here at the shelter we want to say Thank You for your donation and for giving so selflessly.

Stop Animal Abuse

This poem was written by 12 year old Chelsea Mallay for school. We liked it so much we asked if we could post it on our website for everyone to read. Animal Abuse is a very real and terrible problem and we want to thank Chelsea for being brave enough to write about it and sharing her poem with others.

VALENTINES PROJECT

Valentines Project

The Grade 4 students of Donald C. Jamieson recently collected items for the shelter as a Valentine's Project. These kids really know how to show the love!! Just look at all the things they've collected, toys, blankets, food and treats!

The animals at the shelter (and the workers too) want to say THANK YOU to the students and teachers for participating in this project. You're amazing and we all appreciate your efforts. Great Job!
